The Irish Lotto jackpot rolled over for the fifth time on Wednesday 26th August, meaning that Saturday’s top prize will be worth a fantastic €4.5 million. More than 26,000 players won sums of cash in the main game, ranging from €5 for matching three main numbers up to €1,806 for the 26 ticket holders who matched five main numbers. The top cash award of the night came in Lotto Plus 2, where a player matched five main numbers and the Bonus Ball to pocket €2,500.
The winning Irish Lotto numbers were 1, 5, 21, 24, 30 and 42 with Bonus Ball 38 and you can find the full prize breakdown at the Irish Lotto Results section. You can also discover the numbers drawn and prizes distributed for the Lotto Plus 1 and Lotto Plus 2 draws.
This week, a Dublin resident picked up a €350,000 cheque after matching all six main numbers in the Lotto Plus 1 draw on Saturday 22nd August. The player bought ten lines for the draw, with the successful combination having been chosen by his girlfriend who lives in Thailand.
The couple met whilst the interior maintenance worker, who wished to remain anonymous, was on holiday in the Asian country and have been an item for six months. He ensured that she was at the National Lottery offices, albeit via video link, to see him collect his six-figure prize and now plans to buy a home in Ireland as well as a house near his beloved in Thailand.
He also revealed yesterday that, not only had his girlfriend’s numbers come up for him, she had scooped €40 in a lottery in her home country.
