Will an Irish Ticket Holder Win This Tuesday’s €116 million EuroMillions Jackpot?

Last Updated: Tuesday 27th September 2022, 13:08 pm

EuroMillions fans across the continent are bracing themselves ahead of this Tuesday’s draw when the jackpot will be worth €116 million. This colossal prize total is the result of eleven straight rollovers, a run stretching back to Tuesday 11th April when a French family from Dijon reaped the rewards of matching all seven numbers by landing a sum worth €83.3 million.

The winning numbers from Friday night’s draw were 9, 11, 12, 19 and 30, with 4 and 9 appearing as the Lucky Stars. The jackpot may have gone unclaimed, but that didn’t stop over 3.4 million players from profiting from the draw, including one player from Wexford who landed a prize worth €269,554 after matching five main numbers and one of the two Lucky Stars. The fortuitous ticket holder, who was one of six players to go within a single number of securing the jackpot, purchased their winning Quick Pick ticket on the day of the draw from the Gwalia Store in the market town of Gorey.

The draw produced further joy, as a Dublin ticket holder matched all five main numbers to pocket €25,117 after purchasing their Quick Pick entry just hours before the draw’s deadline from the SuperValu on Aston Quay. In total, a staggering 98,630 Irish players profited from Friday’s draw, a result which didn’t go unnoticed by bosses at National Lottery headquarters in the nation’s capital: “It was certainly an exceptional result for almost 100,000 Irish players who are waking up to cash prizes following Friday’s EuroMillions draw,” a spokesman for the organisation told reporters.

This rich vein of form for Irish players has clearly had an effect on the rest of the nation’s lottery lovers, as the demand for tickets ahead of the upcoming draw intensifies. After all, should a player from the Emerald Isle pick up a win in Tuesday’s draw, they will not only become the biggest top prize winner since a Belgian player scooped a €168 million jackpot in October 2016, but they would also become the winner of the largest prize in Irish EuroMillions history, overtaking Dolores McNamara who won a €115 million fortune in 2005.
