Co Leitrim Shop Provides Second Dose of Jackpot Joy Following EuroMillions Plus Win

Co Leitrim Shop Provides Second Dose of Jackpot Joy Following EuroMillions Plus Win

A shop in Co Leitrim is celebrating selling a winning EuroMillions Plus ticket worth €500,000. Staff at Mulvey’s House of Gifts in Carrick on Shannon were delighted by the news, but this isn’t the first time the store has been the source of a little jackpot joy.

Business owner Pat Mulvey is no stranger when it comes to making financial dreams come true. Back in October 1995, his store sold an Irish Lotto ticket that shared a jackpot worth over €1 million. “This is just unbelievable,” Pat told reporters, following news that he had but a smile on another lucky lottery lover’s face. "Only on Monday, I joked with my local National Lottery rep that he should send some winning numbers our way.” And little did Pat know that his wish would soon be granted.

The latest winning ticket, a Quick Pick EuroMillions Plus entry, correctly matched the numbers 7, 13, 17, 35 and 48 in the draw on Tuesday 1st August to land the sizeable six-figure sum. Word rapidly reached Pat’s store as the very same National Lottery representative passed on the joyous information: "He gave me the call to tell me we’d sold a winning ticket worth €500,000,” Pat smiled.

Despite being in a buoyant mood following the win, Pat refused to be drawn into speculating whether the winner could be from the local area: "We are in the middle of the summer season and we are seeing a lot of tourism on the River Shannon,” he said. However, the purveyor did offer the mystery player some kind words on behalf of his staff: "Whether the winner is a local customer or a visitor to the area, we wish them all the best with their prize.”

EuroMillions Plus players in the Co Leitrim area are now being urged to carefully check their tickets in an effort to locate the missing winner as quickly as possible. A spokesman for the National Lottery was on hand with some helpful advice for any players who think they might have a valid claim: "If you’re the lucky ticket holder, sign the back of the ticket and contact the National Lottery Prize Claims Team."

While the hunt continues, players across the country will have another chance to win big this evening as a EuroMillions jackpot worth an estimated €28 million goes on offer.
