Cork Player Wins Jackpot Ahead of New Era for Lotto

Last Updated: Thursday 3rd September 2026, 10:46 am

Tickets have gone on sale for the revamped Irish Lotto, after someone from Cork won the jackpot in the final draw under the old rules on Wednesday night.

Tomorrow's Irish Lotto Jackpot:
€2 Million

The winning numbers for 2nd September were 2, 13, 37, 38, 41 and 46, with a Bonus Ball of 18. Among the 17,877 prize winners, one lucky player matched all the main numbers to land the jackpot of €3.6 million.

It was a Quick Pick ticket purchased online, so the winner has already been sent an email advising them to check their account. They now have 90 days to contact the Irish Lottery.

Spokesperson Sarah Orr said: “While Wednesday night’s Lotto draw marked a milestone moment for the game with 46 and 47 now officially retiring from the game, it was a truly significant night for one Rebel County player.

“The midweek draw saw an online player in Cork win the jackpot which was worth an incredible €3,641,884. We are encouraging all of our online players in Cork to carefully check their accounts today as one person now has a jackpot amount waiting to be claimed."

It was perhaps a fitting farewell to the old Lotto format that the number 46 formed part of the winning line, as the ball pool will now be reduced from 47 to 45. It is only a small update to the game, but it improves the odds of winning across all prize categories.

A new Monday draw has also been added to the schedule, so there will now be three chances to win every week instead of two. Lotto Plus has also undergone an overhaul, while Lotto 5-4-3-2-1 has been rebranded as Lotto Pick & Play. Learn more about all the game changes

    Special Raffle on Saturday

While the Lotto Plus Raffle has been retired as part of the changes, a special ‘Lotto Plus Dispersal Raffle’ will take place on Saturday night.

This one-off promotion has been scheduled because there is still money in the Raffle’s reserve fund. It will work differently to previous raffles, as raffle codes no longer appear on Lotto Plus tickets.

All you need to do to have a chance of winning is buy a Lotto ticket and add the Plus option. Your numbers will be automatically entered into the main Lotto draw, Plus 1 draw and Plus 2 draw as usual. If you win a prize in either of the Lotto Plus draws (in any tier), you will then be entered into the special Lotto Plus Dispersal Raffle.

An electronic random number generator will then be used to select one ticket holder to win an additional prize of €1 million. A further 43 players will also be selected at random to receive extra prizes of €10,092. Winners will be notified when they go to claim their regular prize, and the location where the €1 million ticket was sold will be announced after the draw.

Go to the Irish Lotto Results page to view the winning numbers after they are drawn, or use the Checker to help you review your tickets.
