Limerick Jackpot Winners Still Taking Time Out Before Claiming

Limerick Jackpot Winners Still Taking Time Out Before Claiming

Last Updated: Tuesday 27th September 2022, 09:28 am

The €2.7 million Irish Lotto jackpot from 19th December remains unclaimed, but the winners have been in ‘constant contact’ with the National Lottery. A spokesperson has revealed that the lucky players from Limerick have taken some time out to get advice and there is no set date on when the claim will be validated.

The only winning ticket for the draw was sold at Towhig’s Supervalu, in the Arena Service Station on Church Street in Askeaton. Arthur Rogaczewski, the store manager, described the win as ‘great for the town and the store’, but speculation about the identity of the winner has only increased as time has gone on and nobody has come forward.

All prizes must be claimed within 90 days of a draw taking place and there may have been fears that this jackpot winner would miss out on their money, with the ticket set to expire on 19th March. However, the Irish National Lottery has now confirmed that the winners are aware of their success, and have just been waiting patiently while they prepare themselves for the next steps.

“Our lucky Limerick winners have indeed been in touch and they have taken some time out to consider their win and have taken the National Lottery’s guidance on getting independent and legal advice before they make their claim,” a spokesperson told the Limerick leader.

“We don’t have a definite date on when they will claim their prize but we have been in constant contact to provide support during the process.”

It is a winner’s prerogative to come forward whenever they choose during the claim period. Some players prefer to get in touch with officials as soon as they realise they are due a prize, while others like to take a bit of time to get their heads around the big change and speak to independent experts before contacting the National Lottery. Players just have to start the process before the 90-day deadline, otherwise they will not be paid out.

Choosing Between Lotto and EuroMillions

The Lotto jackpot has not been won since 19th December and currently stands at €7.5 million ahead of Wednesday’s draw. EuroMillions, meanwhile, is up to €130 million following a rollover in Friday’s Superdraw, so which game will you be playing this week?

EuroMillions has the bigger jackpot, 13 different prize tiers and automatic entry to the Ireland Only Raffle, while Lotto has better odds of winning and the chance to play Lotto Plus, which gives you several extra chances to win.

Both games have larger top prizes than usual this week, so you can just to play one or both.
