Dublin Family Claim €10.2 Million Irish Lotto Jackpot

Last Updated: Tuesday 27th September 2022, 09:24 am

A family syndicate from Dublin has come forward to collect the €10.2 million Irish Lotto jackpot from 23rd February. The winners are now looking forward to getting away for a holiday and celebrating a windfall that will have a positive impact on all their lives.

The lucky group matched the numbers 3, 19, 21, 29, 31 and 35, breaking a sequence of 18 rollovers and snapping up the biggest prize offered on the game since 2017. Following just days after the record-breaking €175 million EuroMillions win, it was hailed as one of the most extraordinary weeks in the history of the Irish Lottery.

The winning Lotto entry was sold in Spar at 63-65 O’Connell Street in Dublin’s city centre, but there was no word from the ticket holder for several weeks. On Friday, a large family syndicate finally visited Dublin’s lottery headquarters to claim the ten-figure prize.

They have decided to keep their identities private but were still happy to speak about what the win meant to them. A spokesperson for the syndicate said: “This is a fantastic day for our family. We are thrilled at this win and at the fact that it can be shared amongst us all. It will be life-changing.”

‘We Were All Numb’

The spokesperson, who bought the ticket on behalf of the group, also reflected on the moment when she realised they had won: “I watched the Lotto draw live on the Saturday night and wrote down the winning numbers.

“On Sunday morning I got the ticket and checked the numbers. I couldn’t believe it, so I double checked on teletext. I still wasn’t convinced so I rang one of the family and got them to check the numbers. We were all numb!”

She added: “We want this to change our lives in a positive way. We have no major plans for the winnings yet but we will have a quiet family celebration and will plan a break away together.”

Another Lotto jackpot of €2.5 million was won just a week later, on 2nd March, but the top prize has since rolled over for eight draws in a row and will be worth €5.5 million on Wednesday evening.
