Kilkenny Player Wins €500,000 On EuroMillions Plus

Last Updated: Tuesday 27th September 2022, 09:51 am

It has emerged that the owner of a winning €500,000 EuroMillions Plus ticket picked their lucky numbers from the South Kilkenny area of Ireland. The winner has now been urged to come forward and contact lottery officials to claim their prize after they landed the jackpot in Friday night’s draw.

First Big Lottery Win For Carroll’s Centra

The main EuroMillions draw might have rolled over on Friday 25th May, but one player of EuroMillions Plus will be celebrating after the winning numbers 5, 14, 15, 19 and 49 were drawn. The single ticket holder matched all five numbers to scoop €500,000, after purchasing their golden quick pick ticket the previous day from Carroll’s Centra, Knocktopher, located 20 kilometres south of Kilkenny City.

It’s the 14th time this year that the EuroMillions Plus top prize has been won by an Irish player. The latest winner has up to 90 days of the date of the draw to come forward and claim their prize. Elsewhere in EuroMillions Plus, there were 44 Match 4 winners of €2,000 and 2,699 Match 3 winners who each took home €20. There were also 10 winners of €5,000 each in the Ireland Raffle draw.

Shop Owner is ‘Absolutely Chuffed’

The owner of Carroll’s Centra, Padraig Carroll, said: “We’re absolutely chuffed that one of our customers is half a million euro richer after visiting our store last Thursday. It’s our first big lottery win so you can only imagine the excitement in the store this morning as the good news has spread like wildfire throughout the community.

“There’s no sign of a winner just yet but the store is absolutely buzzing with hopeful customers checking their tickets to see if they have won the €500,000 prize. We’re going to enjoy the celebrations today and we wish our lucky winner all the best with their new-found fortune”, he added.

A spokesperson from the National Lottery said: “It’s another great result for our players this morning and we can’t wait to welcome our 14th EuroMillions Plus winner of 2018 into our famous Winners’ Room next week.”

The winner has also been encouraged to sign the back of their ticket so they can easily be identified as its owner when they contact the prize claims team. This also safeguards against the unsigned ticket being picked up and claimed by someone else. More information can be found on the Claiming Prizes page.

What is EuroMillions Plus?
