How Joining A Syndicate Could Help You Land The EuroMillions Jackpot

Last Updated: Tuesday 27th September 2022, 10:11 am

Anyone looking for a guaranteed way to win Friday night’s €130 million EuroMillions jackpot is likely to be put off by the prospect of having to buy all 139,838,160 number combinations, but there is a way to boost your chances of landing the top prize by playing in a syndicate.

Why Syndicates Are Popular

Playing in a syndicate can improve your odds because you are likely to be entering multiple lines into the draw. If there are 10 people in your group, for example, you could all pay the same amount as you would for one set of numbers, but you would have 10 chances to win. The same effect can be achieved by going it alone and purchasing lots of tickets, but this can become a costly exercise.

If your syndicate does win you would have to share the prize equally among everyone in the group, but this means you can also enjoy the success together. That is exactly what happened this week for a syndicate of 18 hospital workers from Galway after they pocketed the €500,000 top prize in Tuesday night’s EuroMillions Plus draw.

‘Absolutely Crazy’

The winning ticket was bought at the Oasis Shop, which caters for patients, visitors and workers at the Portincula Hospital in Ballinasloe, and the winners were later revealed to be an 18-strong syndicate of administration staff. They celebrated with champagne and it created a joyous feeling among everyone at the acute general and maternity hospital

Trish O’Donoghue, manager of the Aramark-owned Oasis Store, said: “This is absolutely crazy! As a hospital store, all of our customers will be directly associated with the hospital, either as patients, visitors or members of staff. It’s an amazing feeling that we can bring so much joy to the winners with this win.”

Massive Jackpot

The last time the EuroMillions jackpot was won, on Friday 29th December, it was also by a syndicate, with a family group from Dublin coming forward to claim the €38.9 million. The top prize has still not been won in 2018 and is now at a level so high that a single Irish winner on Friday would become the country’s biggest ever winner.
