Dublin Syndicate Wins €5.7 Million Irish Lotto Jackpot

Last Updated: Tuesday 27th September 2022, 09:33 am

A Dublin-based syndicate are celebrating after winning an Irish Lotto jackpot worth €5.7 million. The group, who have decided to remain anonymous, managed to keep their win secret for two weeks before coming forward to claiming their winnings in the National Lottery Winners Room.

Winning Ticket Bought From Spar Express

The jackpot-winning ticket was bought from Spar Express on Rathfarnham Road in Dublin 14 ahead of the draw on Wednesday 3rd October. The syndicate was the only ticket to match all six main numbers on the night – 1, 15, 22, 27, 31 and 34 – to land the jackpot for themselves.

One of the syndicate members said: "Words cannot describe how good this feels. I’ve been playing the Lotto since the start and I only won once – when I matched five numbers about 20 years ago and won £700 pounds (Irish Punts). I’m delighted that we won as a syndicate and we will always have this win and our experience today as a memory together and the money will be a great boost to us all.”

The syndicate winners are the tenth Lotto jackpot winners of the year, and the first top prize winners since changes were made to the game in September. These changes were largely made to the Lotto Plus games and included the introduction of more prize tiers and improved overall odds of winning. They were brought in by the Irish National Lottery in a bid to create more winners and more millionaires.

Lotto Plus 2 Jackpot Won In Kerryman

An Irish Lotto Plus 2 player from Kerryman, meanwhile, was also celebrating after the draw on Saturday 6th October. He matched the numbers 3, 6, 19, 21, 35 and 43 to win a six-figure jackpot worth €250,000. The lucky winner, who bought his ticket from Eagers store on High Street, Killarney, said: "I’m still shocked. It’s a lovely amount to win. It means I can clear my mortgage and still have a chunk left over!

"I was scrolling through my phone the Sunday after the draw and saw the news on Radio Kerry’s social media feed so I pulled my ticket out of my jacket and scanned it on the National Lottery App,” he continued. "I couldn’t believe it and even checked the numbers about 50 times after it.”
