€190 Million EuroMillions Jackpot Tempts Irish Ticket Holders

€190 Million EuroMillions Jackpot Tempts Irish Ticket Holders

Last Updated: Tuesday 27th September 2022, 12:17 pm

A record-equalling jackpot of €190 million is set to excite EuroMillions players across Ireland this Friday. The colossal nine-figure sum has been steadily growing ever since a September Superdraw saw the game’s top prize leap up to a guaranteed €130 million, however, six consecutive draws without a winner have seen the reward on offer reach its highest total in almost three years.

Tuesday Night’s Draw

The lure of a mammoth jackpot may have proved too hard to resist for legions of players across the Emerald Isle, but the top prize remained in place as ticket holders failed to match the numbers 6, 24, 32, 48, 50 and the Lucky Stars 1 and 5. In total, there were 101,940 non-jackpot prize winners in Ireland, with an impressive number of players landing a Match 4+1 reward.

The game’s Jackpot Cap was hit last night and, as a result, the top prize will remain at its current value ahead of Friday’s draw, with any excess funds rolling down to the Match 5+1 prize tier. This could see a number of participants fail to land the jackpot but still begin the weekend as newly-crowned millionaires.

EuroMillions Plus Success

There may not have been a jackpot winner in the main game, but there was plenty of supplementary draw success as one player landed a EuroMillions Plus prize of €500,000. The mystery player, who now has 90 days to collect their prize, correctly matched the numbers 3, 11, 12, 17 and 47. This is the third time that the jackpot has been won in the last three draws, following a double helping of delight in the draw on Tuesday 26th September as two players added their names to the growing list of winners in the game this year.

What Now?

As the jackpot cap has been well and truly struck, the top prize could now remain at its maximum level for a further three draws before rolling down in the fourth to be shared between players in the highest winning prize tier. Of course, should a player match all five main numbers and both Lucky Stars before then, they will walk away with the joint-largest jackpot in EuroMillions history.

If an Irish player wins, they will become the recipient of the largest lottery prize in the nation’s history, eclipsing the €115.4 million claimed by Dolores McNamara in July 2005. As if that wasn’t enough of an incentive, a potential winner would also enter Irish folklore as the country’s 12th top prize winner since the game’s inception in February 2004.
