Cork Ticket Holder Lands €500,000 EuroMillions Plus Jackpot

Cork Ticket Holder Lands €500,000 EuroMillions Plus Jackpot

Last Updated: Tuesday 27th September 2022, 12:52 pm

One lucky player from Cork is €500,000 richer after landing Tuesday evening’s EuroMillions Plus jackpot. The winning ticket holder was the nation’s biggest winner on the night after correctly matching the numbers 01, 07, 14, 21 and 46.

The winning Quick Pick ticket was sold on Saturday 19th August by family-run business J.J. O’Driscoll’s Superstore, a shop located on Ballinlough Road in the south of Cork. Proprietors and brothers Neil and Brendan O’Driscoll now own the outlet and were delighted when they received the news: "What a fantastic win for the local area,” Neil exclaimed to reporters.

The siblings now plan to celebrate their store’s good fortune and were very pleased for the victor: "We’ll definitely be raising a toast to the lucky winner in-store today and on behalf of the local community, we wish them all the very best with their win and we hope that they thoroughly enjoy it," continued Neil.

However, when questions were raised as to who the mystery winner could be, the brothers couldn’t be sure, but they did have a feeling that they could be from the area: “We are based in the heart of a close-knit community just outside Cork City so we’d be fairly certain that it’s a local winner," Neil speculated.

This certainly has been a prosperous year for EuroMillions Plus players, with 17 winners having already scooped the jackpot.  In fact, should this trend for supplementary success continue, the total number of success stories in 2017 will soon overtake the figure set in 2016 when 25 players collected the €500,000 reward.

As National Lottery officials begin their search for this latest winner, efforts have been stepped up to located the winner of a EuroMillions Plus prize in Clare. The prosperous payslip, which will see its owner pocket €500,000, was purchased at Paul Hogan’s Service station on Gort Road in Ennis ahead of the draw on Tuesday  13th June. The prize is set to expire on Monday 11th September.

If you would like to join the winners’ club this week, this Friday’s EuroMillions jackpot is worth a sizeable €17 million.
