Wexford Syndicate Claim €7.9 Million Jackpot

Wexford Syndicate Claim €7.9 Million Jackpot

Last Updated: Thursday 12th May 2016, 10:27 am

A syndicate from Wexford have been confirmed as the winners of a €7.9 million Irish Lotto jackpot. The group scooped the seven-figure prize after matching all six main numbers in the draw on Saturday 23rd April.

After waiting a little over two weeks to come forward and collect their prize, it wasn’t long until the fortunate group were celebrating at Lotto HQ on Abbey Street in Dublin. The four-member syndicate struck lucky after purchasing a normal draw ticket from Londis in The Faythe, County Wexford. Four proved to be a common theme in this win, with the quartet becoming the fourth jackpot winners of 2016 on the fourth Saturday draw in April.

The fortuitous foursome, who wish to remain anonymous, claim they have no plans to give up work just yet, despite their colossal windfall. However, a getaway to warmer climates may certainly be on the cards as the group come to terms with what has happened: “We are all planning a nice long sun holiday this week so we can take some time out and think carefully about what we will do with our winnings,” they revealed to the Irish Mirror. "We are going to enjoy this win for a long time but the priority for all of us in the syndicate is to take care of our individual families."

Although each of the four players may be just shy of €2 million better off after their remarkable win, one member of the syndicate remains hopeful that lightning can strike twice after vowing to carry on playing the game: "The rest of the syndicate are laughing at me because I have continued to do our usual lines in the Lotto and EuroMillions ever since."

In other Irish Lotto news, reports have recently emerged that the National Lottery have refused to comment on whether or not an €8.2 million jackpot will be paid to a player claiming to be the holder of the winning ticket from Sligo. The prize is due to expire in just 23 days, leaving any potential claimant with a race against the clock to claim the huge prize. Lottery officials will be investigating the claim further.

Tonight’s Irish Lotto jackpot is estimated to be worth an incredible €4 million, a prize that could prove life-changing for any potential winner. Irish Lotto fans continue to wait for the first Wednesday jackpot winner since October 28th 2015, so if you think you’ve got what it takes to break the cycle, tickets can be purchased online or from any authorised retailer throughout the Republic. Best of luck!
