Dubliner Finds €500,000 Winning Ticket While Spring Cleaning

Last Updated: Tuesday 27th September 2022, 15:14 pm

A Dublin man collected a EuroMillions Plus prize of €500,000 this week after unearthing his ticket while spring cleaning. The winner admitted he had undertaken the tidy up on the orders of his wife, who had insisted that he sort out the paperwork he had left on the couple’s bedroom floor.

The pair hit the jackpot on the supplementary EuroMillions game in the draw on Friday 15th April, having bought the ticket on the day of the draw at Jones’ Deli in the Ballsbridge area of the capital. However, the slip had been discarded on the floor with a host of other entries and receipts until the fortunate player, who wished to remain anonymous, embarked on his chores.

"I was cleaning up a pile of old Lottery tickets and I just started checking them,” he recalled as he picked up his cheque at lottery headquarters, “When I saw that I had won the EuroMillions Plus draw, I had to keep scanning my tickets on the phone app with my wife to make sure we had won. It’s hard to imagine that I had a €500,000 winning ticket rolled up into a ball on my floor for three weeks!” The man said the win will pay off the couple’s mortgage as well as contributing towards their children’s education.

Playing EuroMillions Plus, with the chance to win up to €500,000, costs a small additional fee when entering tonight’s main EuroMillions draw, which has a €15 million jackpot on offer. The game gives your main numbers another chance to win a substantial sum that could be used for holidays, new cars and perhaps even employing a cleaner.
