Irish lottery fans had an Easter weekend to enjoy as the Lotto jackpot was scooped by one lucky winner and over 42,000 players claimed cash prizes. The top prize had not been won for 16 straight draws since Thursday 5th February and had climbed to €10.6 million, but one mystery ticket holder has now ended the wait after matching all six main numbers drawn.
The winning entry was a €4 Quick Pick ticket purchased at a petrol station in Co Meath. Nobody has yet come forward to claim their money and the shop owners admit they are intrigued as to the identity of the new multi-millionaire. Darren Souhan, who helps run the shop in which the ticket was bought, said in the Irish Daily Star: “It would be nice if it was somebody local so that the community benefits but who knows?”
Saturday’s winning Lotto numbers were 30, 31, 32, 35, 37 and 40 with Bonus Ball 44, and there were plenty of others who had cause to celebrate. Two players matched five main numbers plus the Bonus Ball to walk away with €25,000 each, while there were 60 participants who pocketed €1,463 each after matching five.
The Lotto Plus 1 top prize, which had not been won since Wednesday 21st January, was also snapped up after one participant matched all six main numbers to earn €350,000. A further four ticket holders collected €3,500 for matching five of the main numbers plus the Bonus Ball. In the Lotto Plus 2 game, there was another big winner after one player matched all six numbers to land €250,000, while one ticket holder matched five main numbers and the Bonus Ball to net €2,500.
