Hunt for Irish Lotto Betting Winner Who Could Miss out on £1 Million

Last Updated: Tuesday 4th October 2022, 10:41 am

Staff at a Betfred store in Doncaster, South Yorkshire are hunting for an Irish Lotto betting winner who is due a £75,000 windfall, but will miss out on the chance to turn it into £1 million if she doesn’t show up before midday on Saturday. Posters have been placed in the shop window and across the town, urging her to return and take advantage of Betfred’s Bonus Ball Bonanza promotion.

The woman, who is described as being in her forties, correctly matched the three Bonus Balls from the Irish Lotto, Lotto Plus 1 and Lotto Plus 2 draws on Saturday 5th December, scooping the five-figure prize and qualifying to win £1 million if she can predict this Saturday’s main Irish Lotto Bonus Ball too. However, the bet has to be placed before noon on the day of the draw.

Branch manager Tony Deakin explained the urgency behind the campaign to The Star newspaper , “the thing is she only comes in once a week for about half an hour with her husband or partner after noon on a Saturday...they told staff that they were going away for a few days and I honestly don’t think they even know they have won the £75,000.” He admitted the company had even contemplated hiring a car with a loud speaker to drive around the town to raise awareness about the missing winner.

Tony said staff had been asking customers if they recognise the couple, who regularly bet on the Irish, New York and Spanish lotteries, but so far no one has been able to put a name to the descriptions. The woman is said to be around 5ft 3ins, with short, dark hair and is regularly seen in mod-style clothes. Her partner is approximately 6ft 3ins and wears a retro Crombie coat and Dr Marten shoes.

Irish lottery betting is popular amongst punters across the world, offering larger payouts for matching smaller amounts of balls, but without the opportunity to snap up the huge jackpots that can be achieved by playing in the traditional way. Tonight’s Irish Lotto jackpot is worth €5 million and, if you would like a shot at that bounty, you can enter online at the Bet Online page or from authorised lottery retailers across the country.
